Time to Worship

“To everything there is a season a time for every purpose under heaven" (Eccl. 3:1).

Knowing the times and seasons will make life much easier.  Trying to plow the fields in January is not a good idea if you live in Siberia.  There is a time to plant and a time to reap.  There is a time to rend and a time to sew.  There is a time for everything. The Bible says of Jesus, “All things were made by Him and without His was not anything made that was made.”  If this is true, the One who is called the Word made the world and everything in it.  He also made what we call seasons and what we know as time. The Bible also says “All things were made by Him and for Him…” There is a time “to tear down and a time to build up.”  There is a time for everything. 
But there is more in this verse.  Not only is there a season, there is also a reason: a “purpose under heaven.” If this also is true, it means God wants me to “live on purpose.” Behind every season and every time, there is a plan and there is a reason. “He causeth the grass to grow for cattle, and herb for the service of man.”  Pharmaceutical companies are searching through the Amazon for remedies and cures for diseases and sickness hidden in the plants, insects, and even the dirt beneath their feet.  Every good gift comes from the Father of lights.  Evil twists the truth and perverts the good.  It has been rightly said that “evil” is the deliberate misuse of purpose.

God made salt on purpose.  God made grass on purpose.  God made nitrogen on purpose.  God made me and you on purpose. “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor, for thou hast created all things for Thy pleasure they are created(Rev.4:11).  Our purpose is to please God.  Jesus said, “I always do those things that please Him.” God made us on purpose and for purpose. God made rain on purpose and pain on purpose.  God made bees on purpose, and God made knees on purpose. Bees know when to strive and when to hive. Wise men know when to plow and when to bow, when to work and when to worship. Worship is the default position of a life on purpose.  To stray from that is to “sow in winter” and starve in the day of harvest. -id
